That kind of ferocity sounds like a wild boar. For countless generations, people were raising domestic animals such as pigs. Some were even raising it in their backyard. However, it would be impossible for them to raise such a violent animal here in the city.

Speaking of which, she hasn’t eaten pork since coming here. Looking at the wonderful juicy meat, Bai Qingqing couldn’t help drooling.

The kinds of meat they’re hunting in the forest were tougher than beef. Not once has she eaten meat as tender as pork.

“We’ll take it home and eat it, then.” Bai Qingqing said excitedly.

Parker poked Bai Qingqing’s forehead bemusedly. “It’ll rot by tomorrow, Idiot. Since when has anyone kept raw meat for more than a day during the hot season?”

Bai Qingqing rubbed her forehead and pouted: ‘Parker, you! You are the stupid one here! You don’t know anything.’

“Shut up, I have a way to keep it fresh!” Bai Qingqing needed to use a lot of salt to make a cured meat. But they don’t have enough salt. It seems she won’t be able to make as much cured meat as she wants to.

Parker didn’t doubt Bai Qingqing’s intellect as much as before. He had witnessed her doing lots of incredible things, so he didn’t argue with her further. He teased her, “Well, don’t come crying tomorrow when it goes bad.”

“There’s no way I’m gonna cry.” Bai Qingqing shook her head. After some time, she realized Curtis was quiet for too long. She glanced at him, and saw Curtis touching his skin.

“Is the fire too warm?” Bai Qingqing asked Curtis but before he could answer, she immediately turned to Parker and said, “I’m full. I’m going to head back with Curtis. You can keep eating with Winston.”

Seeing Bai Qingqing getting up, Parker also tried to get up, but Bai Qingqing had held his shoulders down to get him to remain seated. “You’ve barely eaten anything at all. There’s no way you’re not hungry. Come home when you had your fill.”

Parker was indeed hungry, his stomach was even growling. So he had no choice but to remain here eating. But then he happened to look at Curtis, the damn snake was looking at him while smirking.

‘That damn bastard!’

He never wanted this bastard to come in the first place. Now he had lost the chance to be alone with Qingqing, instead, the damn snake has taken it.

Winston had watched their interaction, and there was strong envy in his eyes.

His expression was so obvious that when Parker glanced at him, he immediately understood what he was thinking.

“Let me remind you, you’re not going to be a part of our family.” Parker sneered slightly.

Winston didn’t respond and only stood up, exuding a heavy aura, which made people feel pressure for no reason.

“Protect your female well. I’m afraid Shuu’s intentions run deeper than simple affection.”

“Tsk.” Parker said disdainfully. “I’m not worried. Nobody has a chance anyway. Qingqing has already said that snake and I are the only ones she wants and no one else.”

Winston said nothing as he stood still. After a while, he turned and walked away.

Parker looked at Winston’s back as he left and thought of him as boring. While eating, Winston’s words were replaying in his mind.

‘The wolf’s intentions run deeper than simple affection? What did Winston mean? Is it that Shuu wants the protection of a tetra-marked beast, since Qingqing has one?’

Parker soon dismissed the idea. There’s no way anyone from the wolf clan is that cunning. A male has to devote his happiness to his spouse. Shuu must be serious about his feelings if he’s going to chase after Qingqing.

The path was too dark and Bai Qingqing could not see it clearly. She took the initiative to climb on Curtis’s back by stepping on a rock nearby.

“Curtis, were you really bored today? You never said much.” Bai Qingqing asked softly while hugging Curtis’s neck.

Curtis could feel the weight of Snow on his back, and a light smile formed on his lips. “Would you not go to events like those anymore if I said yes?”

“Hmm…” Bai Qingqing hesitated for a moment. “It’s only once a year, so I would want to go.”

One of the great freedoms at the age of sixteen is the ability to be active—like going on parties and such. Although there is nothing much to do around here and the food is scarce, but just looking at the bright side, Bai Qingqing finds this world interesting.

“I’ll go if you say so.” Curtis didn’t need to argue. In such gatherings, he’ll just have to stay vigilant against the pesky offsprings of those kings.
